We have a beautiful blue merle Sheltie. I do know that this dog barks a lot when she goes outside to go to the bathroom. We leave her out there for maybe 20 to 30 minutes at a time. There may be some times for an hour. There are other dogs in the neighborhood that bark too. A couple days ago someone called the cops stating that our dog is outside all day and night barking non stop and the cops came over stating that if they have to come out again they are going to give us a ticket and call animal control to take the dog away. The next day I get a letter from a “Neighbor” with no return address stating that they are an old couple and they can’t even go in their backyard or sit in their bedroom because they hear our dog all day and night long. Like I said our dog is only out for about 20 or 30 minutes at a time maybe 4 times a day and sleeps inside. Is there any laws that say police can call animal control to take our dog away? I don’t feel that this is right.
By the way, this morning I heard two other dogs barking while my dog lays down inside the house in her kennel, which is where she sleeps all night. I think that we are going to get another letter or another call to the police this morning, when my dog isn’t even outside.
Don’t get me wrong. I am willing to work with them, but I don’t appreciate having the cops called and threatening to have animal control take my dog away. I feel that they should have sent a letter first, stating that it is bothering them and given me a chance to correct the problem before having the police come out and give us scare tactics and threats.

We have an extremely irritating neighbor. Their dog barks too much. I went to their house, they were at home but they did not open the door. I left a note at the door “Please Stop Barking!” They don’t care. I hate to suffer and to feel sick. I wrote an e-mail to Animal Control. They did not answer. He barks in the morning. I wake up everyday with head ache and chest pain. I have sleeping problems, I am tiered the whole day and I feel sick. It’s horrible. The dog unnecessarily barks a lot in the morning. He also barks during the day and evening. I don’t want to suffer anymore. Many people here are irritated by this dog. It’s extremely annoying. I found information about the law. “It is unlawful for any person to be the keeper of a dog which the person fails to prevent from being a public nuisance by disturbing the peace, comfort, health or repose of any person of reasonable sensitivity by making loud, long unnecessary and continuous noises. Unlawful barking is defined as a period of five (5) minutes of barking during a 15-minute interval at any time of day.” I used a timer. The dog barks more than 5 minutes. And at sleeping time the minutes don’t matter. I’m thinking about to sue them. Does anybody know if I can expect a recovery (money) for pain and suffering? I don’t know what kind of lawyer I will need.
They have a big RV, a big house, a wall and they are a wall building company.
