dog barking
danielle s asked:

i have a 3 year old american bulldog.. he barks at everything.. if he hears people talking outside he barks, keys in the door, people walking by, people he doesnt know, everything… i know he is a dog and dogs bark.. i dont mind the barking but considering the breed he is.. people will start to complain.. he is a sweet dog once he knows a person.. but people who dont know him think he is agressive.. so whats the best way to stop this.. (oh and he doesnt bark at other dogs or cats just people and noises)
F.Y.I i dont beleive in shock collars.. and someone suggested a squirt bottle… this is a 100 lb dog the squirt bottle is no threat.. he likes it…
i should ad more info to give people a better understanding… my dog gets more than enough exercise.. im into keeping fit and my dog comes jogging with me everyday… he gets a major amount of attention.. he is a very very well behaved dog… he never chews he never has an accident in the house.. i can have him off leash he listens to every command.. its just the barking… i know everything their is to know about this breed.. the problem is that the first 2 years of his life he was raised by someone else i adopted him.. these dogs need to be socialised alot at an early age to prevent social problems… and i do know that the previous owner crated him alot.. so i know where the problem came from.. its how to bring it down a notch thats the problem..

dog barking
Ryan Z asked:

Every once in a while when I take my dog outside for a walk or to poop or pee, one of my neighbors’ dog barks. Now, everytime this happens, my dog’s tail immediately goes between her legs and she wants to go inside right away. The neigbor leaves their sliding door open when so their dog is out on their balcony barking at everthing that makes a noise or anything it can see. Sometime I don’t have much time to take my dog out and she ends up not being able to go to the bathroom for some lengths of time since she stays in the crate while I am gone. She plays with other dogs and has been around other dogs barking but she seems specifically scared of barking dogs that she can’t see. Any way to remedy this problem? Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks.
We’ve taken her to obedience classes and she does great with the other dogs. We also go to dog parks and pet stores for extra socialization. We recently moved to our current apartment and that’s when this problem began. Before the move, this never happened. I specifically remember another dog that would bark at my old complex and she would be fine. I supposed when I take her out for her to go to the bathroom I could wait until she goes, but she just keeps clawing at the ground to try and go inside. It’s hard to distract her because it seems that she is scared of everthing around her after the other dog starts barking.
